GutenFlash is a streaming text reader, based on the concept of Rapid Serial Visual Presentation. The idea is to display a few words at a time, very quickly, in a very large font. Playback speed ranges from 20 to 2000 words per minute, including extra pauses to accommodate punctuation.
PhotoFS is a Web-based photo album or image gallery, based on the files-as-directories and attributes-as-files concepts at the core of the ReiserFS 4 filesystem. It does not require ReiserFS 4, but is much more efficient on that system than on others. It does many of the same things as other Web galleries, at least as far as the basics go. What makes it different is its use of the filesystem instead of a database. It allows you to use regular unix tools to access your photo collection. It can handle very large collections, and also encourages multiple categories per file, deep category hierarchies, and batch processing.
wifiroamd is a background program which tries to just do the right thing to bring up your wireless network. Simple, yet customizable init.d-like scripts are used to determine which networks are preferred and to do things like set the ESSID or WEP keys. Other advanced functionality such as bonding of wired and wireless devices is also automated. wifiroamd is an engine for the handling of connecting to wireless networks. It is entirely command-line based, and meant to run in the background without interaction.
TKDO is a master TODO list with command line and PyGTK interfaces. It takes all your VimOutliner todo.otl outlines, merges them into a single flat list, auto-sorts them, filters them, and adds support for things like contexts and recurring events. It also has a snooze button, to mark tasks as "don't bug me about this for a while". The entire system is based on plain text files, with a GUI to make certain tasks easier and faster. Due to its plain text nature, it's easy to extend or customize the system with short scripts.
