Voicechat allows transferring bidirectional audio data in almost real time over a TCP/IP network such as the Internet. It is meant for two-person voice conversations, much like the telephone. It uses GSM compression (with a free GSM library) and a simple silence-detection algorithm to compress the data sent over the network; it also supports text conversation, much like the common Unix talk. Text and voice work at the same time, bidirectionally.
Simple Dynamic DNS is a very light and simple set of Perl scripts to provide DNS support for users with dynamic IPs. The server is a CGI which waits for a client connection, then authenticates and changes the user IP. The cron script will check every N minutes for changes in the zones specified in the config files, and if any, it rebuilds the Bind zone from the latests updated IPs.
VAdmind (Virtual Administrator Daemon) is set of Perl scripts and modules which can help with remote server management. It uses XML input/otput, and can be run by (x)inetd. It can receive multiple commands to execute, and it has been built to provide support for a scalable system administration environment. Since it takes XML, clients can be developed in a different set of environments with easy integration into the server.
It's been almost 10 years already!
Thanks to everyone who wrote notes regarding their experience with the tool, all of them encoraging to take the project to the next level.
I've finally found some time to take care of updating the project, there are a few features comming and a re-vamped client interface. I'll be making announces as events develop.
More to come soon...
Currently, the VAdmind project was changed from a private enviroment with a very specific set of functions to execute in the server. I removed all those specific functions in order to publish it GPL. Thats why there are not plugins in the current version. Short plans are to take the existing useful code in some webmin modules and build the proper modules for VAdmind.
As you will note, writting modules for VAdmind is easy as cake.
