I wrote it in 5 minutes at one time I needed it. I needed it for both Windows (where tr is *NOT* a standard) and Linux. I guess you will say, but you could have installed cygwin blabla. Well why waste several Mb of disc space for a simple tool
I thought perhaps somebody else might like to use the program so that is why I put it up here.
I would urge you to rather put your effort into making something useful for the rest of us than roaming freshmeat critising whatever others do. I know I'll continue with developing my other application, so in the mean time please make yourself useful and then you can come back when my program is finished and complain why I didn't use tk/tcl in stead.
