If you want to customize the code and/or extend its features, sure: it is not for non programmers (even though IMHO it is not difficult to customize it for a non expert PHP programmer).

Sorry, the reply is rather long :-)
First of all, I live in Italy. I have written the interface for a payment gateway widely used in Italy; I have not published the code simply because
i) it would be rather unuseful outside of Italy
ii) it already exists an open source PHP class providing the same features for the same payment gateway, and it's actively maintained... I suppose that final users prefer to rely on that class... and I prefer to avoid duplication of efforts, hence, if I need this feature, I prefer to use that class.
I do not agree about non existence of hints... even though the corresponding manual section is still to be written, the involved variables are managed in the cart class, and the code of that class is documented in detail according to the PHPDocumentor syntax (i.e. you can easily generate the HTML documentation and browse it); furthermore, just read a bit the code of the complete order script for what concerns the credit card payment... it seems to me that it's rather easy to customize it a bit to put cart values into the corresponding form...

It is on sourceforge. However, it seems that people prefers to directly contact me by e-mail... I receive a considerable amount of e-mails about this project :-)

I'm not joking at all :-)
Please also consider that in Italy almost all people still prefer not to resort to credit card payment... hence I am not so much encouraged to work on this issue, and hence other issues have higher priority, such as the ones documented in the current changelog and, alas, the compatibility with the ms windows environment (BTW, the forthcoming version 2.2.0 should be completely compatible with ms windows and iis, even though the mswin environment will very likely remain officially unsupported).

I have not written anywhere that pgmarket bundles interfacing with a payment gateway...

In the future there could be interesting news...
Moreover, everyone that wants to provide interfacing of the package with payment gateways is welcome, it's an open project.

If you have never lost data cause to MS Access, it is *only luck*.
