Aether is a wiki-esque CGI script for creating and editing Web pages and Weblogs via a Web interface. It consists of a single easy-to-install script and uses a simple markup language to lay out pages. Unicode is supported in both page text and URLs. It can produce Atom syndication feeds for each Weblog in a site. A simple revision tracking system allows previous versions of a page to be restored.
Bonk is an audio compression program that can operate in either lossy or lossless mode. In lossy mode, it achieves around 14:1 compression while remaining perceptually lossless; equivalent to around 95 kbps for CD quality stereo. In lossless mode, which allows exact recovery of the original audio file, the compression ratio is typically around 2:1. The compressed files are stored in a new format based on speech compression techniques. Compressed files can then be converted back to an uncompressed format or played back in real time.
PyMML is a Python package for the statistical analysis and automatic classification of data. It implements a selection of the MML estimators described by Professor Chris Wallace in "Statistical and Inductive Inference by Minimum Message Length". MML is a form of robust statistical analysis based on information theory. The package includes estimators for hidden factor analysis and mixture modelling.
Resynthesizer is a Gimp plug-in that when given a sample of a texture can synthesize more of that texture. It can also be used to create tiling patterns, to remove an object from am image by inventing a plausable background, or to apply a theme to an image (for example to make an image look as though it were painted).
Synaesthesia is an eyecandy program that represents music graphically in real time as coruscating fields of fog and glowing lines. It is intended as a visual accompaniment to music. Its display combines information about the frequency, location and diffuseness of sound. It can take input from CD, line, piped from another program, or from EsounD. It also functions as a CD player.
TextureOps is a set of plug-ins for the GIMP related to texture. Compositing a feathered layer on top of another layer slightly reduces the contrast in the the feathered region, noticably modifying the texture. TextureOps contains a "Sharpen Feathering" plug-in to counteract this effect. Also in TextureOps is a modified version of the standard "Make Seamless" plug-in that produces a more uniform result, based on similar principals. Finally, TextureOps provides a simple script for synthesizing a tilable texture of arbitrary size from a sample using the Sharpen Feathering plug-in.
