sure it is. but strength can definitely discourage.

and he will ask: "why don't i get an easy dialog for this?"
or will think: "on a windows machine, this is much easier"
it's not that it will be impossible to write a shell script for that task just because there is a dialog ...
it's just a matter of choice, for those who don't want to write shell scripts. maybe due to missing computer experience.
you should always have in mind that a lot of average windows users don't know their progs remain on disk if they delete the link on the desktop. users like this may want / be forced to use linux. and believe me, these will not write shell scripts after reading 30 mins of online-help!
linux is for everyone, not just hobbyists, developers and powerusers.
most of the linux-newbies don't have any experience with UNIX and haven't seen a shell before.
don't expect too much.
