hlg is a fast and easy to use tool for quickly auditing the performance of your Web applications. It reads Web logs and generates some interesting statistics, including details about average and peak concurreny (based on overlapping start times and durations), and the average and peak size and duration of requests over time. It is able to group regions based on the URL and produces text or comma-separated reports.
mod_athena is an Apache-based application load balancer for large systems. It allows the HTTP server to act as a load balancer either internally to Apache's own mod_proxy (for reverse proxying), or externally to machines querying it. Arbitrary statistics are sent to the engine via a simple GET plus query-string interface, from which it will then make decisions based on chosen algorithms.
mod_sphinx is an Apache module which intercepts output bound for the client, whether it be from files served by the same Web server, files sent via reverse proxying, or files delivered by transparent forward proxying (outbound proxying, as in your browser's proxy setting). It opens the text and replaces a word with another word or phrase. When in regular proxy mode, it cannot modify SSL content since Apache cannot decrypt that (it would be a protocol violation).
PagePoker is a Perl package that defines a browser agent with many powerful features for monitoring and testing Web sites, including elaborate failure handling that can send email and trigger SNMP traps. It comes with three scripts that implement it for different uses: poke.pl, for single agents; pokes.pl, for many parallel agents, and pokehard.pl, for loadtesting and benchmarking.
