smbfax is a Unix server which allows you to print via Samba from a Windows client to a hylafax-controlled faxmodem on your server without any additional Win32 software for the client. It's as easy as File->Print from an application, choose the network fax printer, then check your email's INBOX. You can also view and delete jobs via the standard Windows methods.
XChat-XMMS allows XMMS to be controlled from within XChat. It can send out messages to channels or other IRC users, and supports searching playlists with Perl regular expresions, DCC transfers, understands MP3 and Ogg-Vorbis tags, caches playlists for quick searches, and allows remote playlist browsing via /msg. It also supports auto- messages and auto-topics.

I'd reccomend getting a US Robotics V.Everything. It will do anything you ever want a modem to do -- you can pick them up (the EXTERNAL model) off ebay for pretty cheap
