sctl is used to control the Bearcat BC895xlt, BC245, BC780, and Radio Shack PRO-2052 trunk tracking scanners. It can read and set memory contents and a numerous settings, and will display and change the current status (e.g. scanning, trunk scanning, etc.). It can also download/store and upload memory bank contents.

There's a Bearcat 295 (I think) that is computer programmable. If you have a scanner that claims to be computer programmable, give it a try. The scanner I'm developing for is a desktop model, but I'd guess the handheld uses either the same or a simlar protocol. Use the "status" command to test at first, since it doesn't set values, just queries them.

My scanner started returning a \n instead of \r to end a line today, so I'm working on an update to fix that. If you're using this program, stay tuned. I am *very* interested to know of anyone else having this problem.
