LinVDR is a small, lightweight, ready-to-run and easy-to-install distribution of VDR which can turn almost any PC with a DVB-s (digital satellite) card into a digital hard disk recorder. It contains VDR Admin for Web administration and Samba shares to upload your MP3 files or download DVD images made from your TV recordings.
regionset allows you to check and set the region code of DVD drives. This program was part of the package "dvd_disc_20000215.tar.gz" from Convergence, which is no longer distributed because of the new German copyright law. (The package also contained some CSS and copying related tools.) regionset was separated and all CSS related stuff was removed. This program is needed by everyone with a new DVD drive that doesn't have a region code set, since the drive will only play Video DVDs when the region code has been set once.
dvd+rw-tools makes it possible to burn DVD images created by "dvdauthor" or "mkisofs" to DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, and DVD-RW disks, replacing "cdrecord-proDVD" in many cases. The package contains "growisofs" to burn DVD images or create a data DVD on the fly, "dvd+rw-format" to format a DVD+RW, "dvd+rw-mediainfo" to give details about DVD disks, and some programs to control the write speed and obtain information from DVD-RAM.
