GPL software on WIndows fine with me
For years what I really wanted was a Unix I could afford on hardware I could afford. DJ Delorie's port of the GNU compiler and tools (DJGPP) to DOS protected mode was just the solution for many years. Now I mostly run Linux, the GNU compilers and tools, etc. I wrote a number of programs w/ DJGPP and am still interested in it and still occassionally use it. I think it and similar packages have a place on freshmeat. I found a bug in the I/O library, had source to edit and fix. That's Open Source for me.
