The Hacker Key Guide allows hackers, both current and aspiring, to encode vital information about their traits into a single line of text, generally useful for sig files. It is based in principle on the wonderful Geek Code by Robert Hayden, but is skewed further to the geek programming niche.
klibido is hands down the best open source newsreader. It is nearly perfect, the only thing it really lacks is the ability to move selected items in the download queue to the bottom (which you can work around by selecting everything else and moving to the top, but this would definitely be nice to have).
It is also incredibly STABLE compared to other comparable projects even when faced with incredibly large numbers of groups or messages in a group, do not let the low version number fool you. The few times it has crashed on me, the queue contents were automatically saved and the program asks if they should be requeued.
I cannot say enough good things about this program, highly recommended.

Perhaps the next boardgame on your list should be 'Spelling 101' ;-)
