A few comments
a) No one Understands Perl 6.
Who you mean by `No one'?. If no one understand
perl 6, no one will ever program in perl 6. I see some
ppl programming with perl 6. So the sentence: No one
Understands Perl 6 is false.
b) Perl 6 is not Backwards-Compatible with Perl 5.
Why it has to be Backward-Compatible?.
If you think perl 6 as a new programming language,
then, tommorrow you will pretend that C would be
compatible with intercal.
If you think perl 6 as a new version of perl, then you
have to analize one thing (maybe more):
1) You will have to rewrite all your piece of software,
because of Perl 6?.
c) Perl 6 is too Complex.
Maybe .But even Lisp is complex. And there's a lot of
people programming in Lisp.
You have to define the word Complex. And then ask
yourself: This complexity is always bad, or have some
d)Perl 6 is the wrong thing at the wrong time. Perl 5 is
already good enough and will be so for the
Well. There's something interesting about that.
If Perl 5 is good enough, then you can keep
programming in perl 5. If you want to continue
developing perl 5 you can do, too.
The other thing... Perl 6 is the wrong thing .... time.
Are you sure?. Why do you said that?
If all people program in C. C is good enough. Then
why to develop another Programming Language?.
If we decided to develop another Programming
Language, then we have to have a good motivation,
or reason. So, Perl 6 is only a new syntax, and a lot of
crap, or maybe is doing things that improves and
makes perl a better language?.
If Perl 6 is completely study, no one programs (really)
in Perl 6.. so larry would stop developing Perl 6, no
one will ever program in Perl 6, and everyone will start
programming (or continue) in perl 5.
But, if Perl 6 is better than perl 5 in some aspects, and
one or two brains understand it, and exploit it, then
Perl 6 would be the better solution to one problem.
As a final conclusion, you don't have to think about a
programming language, as a solution for every
problem. You have to think about it, as another way to
I'm sure that Perl 6, even if few ppl understand it,
would be the solution for a lot of problems.
