The WorldForge Project is developing a complete, distributable framework for massively multiplayer online roleplaying games. The system will include a number of fully developed roleplaying worlds with unique maps, histories, creatures and legends. To run these worlds on the servers a balanced but highly customisable set of roleplaying rules is being developed. Provisions will be made to allow others the ability to recode the servers to use alternate rule sets. A standard protocol named Atlas is being developed to allow a common communication layer between clients, servers, and associated tools. It provides a simple, intuitive format for using plain text files to store data, a command line interface for viewing stored information in a variety of convenient ways, and a cross-platform, PyQt-based GUI for creating and modifying items as well as viewing them. Displayed items can be grouped by date, context, keyword, or project and can be filtered in various ways. Sdictionary is a dictionary that uses its own dictionary format. Unlike ptkdic or gtkdic, MySQL isn't needed; you can work with dictionary files directly. It uses Unicode, meaning that words and articles all are in UTF-8. There are two index levels, compression, and tools to convert from text files to .dct and vice versa. A Perl/Tk version, libsdict, a C library framework, and a Symbian version are available.
