mysqlblasy is a Perl script for automating MySQL database backups. It uses "mysqldump" for dumping mysql databases to the files sytem. It was written with automated usage in mind. For example, it is silent during operation, and only produces noise on errors/problems. It rotates backups automatically to prevent the backup disk from getting full when the administrator is on vacation (or is lazy).
php_db2util is a module that extends PHP with mass data movement functions. It supports connecting to a DB2 server, loading data from a client or server with a replace option or insert option, and exporting data from a table to a client. It also allows the runstats utility to be run to recreate indexes.
Simplebackup is a cross-platform backup program. It reads a configuration file, then it builds a compressed file for each of your backup directories or files on your backup list, and places the compressed files into another location. For example, this location can be a network mapped drive in Windows, an NFS mounted drive in Unix, another hard disk, an FTP server, an SFTP (Secure FTP) server, an HTTP (WebDAV) server, one or more email accounts, or a tape device (Unix only). This will duplicate your information, doing the so called "backup".
CLNoFault is a tool to protect your files or plain text. Using XOR encryption, it can quickly encrypt data using either a username and a password of your choice, or an external file that will serve as a key. Encrypted files can't be recovered in any way besides re-encrypting them with CLNoFault with the correct user/pass combination or keyfile. CLNoFault is the console-based interface for the NoFault library (like KNoFault for KDE), so it is useful in scripts.
The True Audio (TTA) codec is a simple realtime lossless audio compressor. It performs lossless compression on multichannel 8, 16, and 24 bit data of Wav audio files. The compression ratios depend on the type of music file being compressed, but the compression size will generally range between 30%-70% of the original. TTA supports both ID3v1 and ID3v2 information tags.
Fileprune will delete files from a collection, targeting a given distribution of the file timestamps within time as well as size, number, and age constraints. Its main purpose is to keep a set of periodically-created backup files to a manageable size while still providing reasonable access to older versions. The algorithm used for pruning is based on an exponential, Gaussian (normal), or Fibonacci distribution, and supports collections of files stored at irregular intervals.
