Nyquist is an elegant and powerful language for sound synthesis and music composition. Unlike score languages that tend to deal only with events, or signal processing languages that tend to deal only with signals and synthesis, it handles both in a single integrated system. It is also flexible and easy to use because it is based on an interactive Lisp interpreter. You can design instruments by combining functions (much as you would using the orchestra languages of Music V, cmusic, or Csound). You can call upon these instruments and generate a sound just by typing a simple expression. You can combine simple expressions into complex ones to create a whole composition. It runs under any Unix environment, MacOS, Windows 95, and Windows NT, and it produces sound files as output (or direct audio output under Windows).
The CMU Midi Toolkit (CMT) is a collection of software for writing interactive MIDI software in C. It includes a number of handy utilities along with an application "shell" that provides timing, scheduling, and MIDI interfaces that are portable across DOS, Mac, SGI, and Amiga platforms.
Tutorial Environment for Cryptographic Protocols (TECP) is a tutorial and visualization environment for public key cryptography. It is intended for students of cryptography courses and can be used to improve understanding of modular arithmetic-based public key algorithms, and for lecturers who want to add some life to boring blackboard-and-chalk presentations about the topic.
Audiotap is a program for conversion between .TAP files and Commodore 64 tapes. It can read WAV files containing the sampled sound of a tape and convert them to .TAP files, and can generate WAV files to be recorded on a tape and used on a Commodore 64. It can also record .TAP files from the sound card and turn .TAP files into sound played to the sound card. It does not require custom-built cables, just plain audio cables connecting the sound card and a normal audio tape player/recorder.
WorkRoll is a Web-based bug tracker. It includes a Windows installer, or can be installed into a J2EE JSP container/Servlet engine via a WAR file. No database is required. Installation and use are fully Web-based. Features include sorting, filtering, file attachments, tiered access, email notifications, and import/export. WorkRoll includes an "external feedback" module that allows for seamless integration with your Web site's feedback page. Bugs can be organized by project, status, priority, assigning user, assigned-to user, due date, dev instance, and version.
