OpenAL, the Open Audio Library, is a joint effort to create an open, vendor-neutral, cross-platform API for interactive, primarily spatialized audio. Its primary audience is made up of application developers and desktop users that rely on portable standards like OpenGL for games and other multimedia applications.
The Easysoft XML-ODBC Server lets client applications access ODBC compliant databases using simple requests in XML over TCP/IP. No client-side installation is required. A client application sends an SQL request in XML to the Easysoft XML-ODBC Server. The request is executed via a standard ODBC data source and results are returned to the client, again in XML. It can be used with any ODBC 2.0 or above driver available for Windows, Linux, and major Unix platforms. It can be used to connect any device with TCP/IP capability, including PDA and wireless systems. It is compatible with any language that supports socket programming and includes source examples for PHP, Perl, C, Java, and VB.
Simulum deals with different simulations of star movements and their visualizations. At first it looks at the projection and accumulation of star brightness. In actually doing this it distributes stars among a three dimensional figure. To get a nice effect it combines the photographic image production with a moving view point. So the outcome is the visual impression of flying through a star field. Secondly it studies different algorithms of particle movements and clustering. The primary approach uses a combination of Newton's gravitational law, energy, and impulse conservation. At all these stages an highly dynamic view of the processes is able to be produced.
Jake2 is a pure Java port of the Quake2 game engine. It features OpenGL rendering using jogl and OpenAL sound using joal. To use the Jake2 engine, you need either the data files from the original game or from the demo version. An online installation of the demo levels is possible. A lwjgl driver is included as an alternative to the jogl/joal combination. Single player and multiplayer modes are working. Jake2 comes close to the performance of the original engine written in C.
VFGEN is a program that takes a specification of a vector field (in other words, a system of differential equations) and generates source code for a wide variety of ODE solvers and other numerical tools. It includes a command for generating C code to be used with the CVODE solver.
AKVIS Noise Buster is a image editor plug-in for noise suppression on digital and scanned images. AKVIS Noise Buster reduces both luminance and chroma (color) noise on digital images without spoiling other aspects of the photo. The plug-in's window shows "before" and "after" images for instant preview and easy tweaking of the parameters. Separate setting areas for luminance and chroma noise allow you to deal with each kind of noise in the most efficient way. It is compatible with Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Corel (Jasc) Paint Shop pro, etc.
The SensorWeb project aims at developing the Open SensorWeb Architecture (OSWA) and implementing a standards-compliant platform and middleware for integration of sensor networks with emerging distributed computing platforms such as Grids. It confirms to the Web Services standard defined by the W3C, and the SensorML (Sensor Model Language) standard defined by the OpenGeospatial Consortium.
