iDMC is user-friendly software for the simulation and analysis of non-linear models. It was designed both as a teaching and research tool, and is very easy to use (a user’s guide is available). Numerical calculations are performed on models included in the package, or any model formulated by the user and easily encoded (a few lines with no compilation necessary). The Java graphical user interface provides fast generation of graphical data of good quality, which can be saved as .png files. Hard computational tasks are delegated to a separate, small C library.
pyDirStat is a small tool to view statistical information about a directory. It will generate a view of all files contained in a directory (and subdirectories) with rectangles. Each rectangular area is proportional to the file sizes. It's useful for viewing disk usage with graphics. It's a non-interactive command-line tool that will generate HTML or SVG or SWF files. On Windows, it also runs as a shell extension.
LayerD is an effort to develop an extensible framework for programming languages. It features unlimited compile time programmability, modular design, pluggable code generation, unified high level semantics, multiple source languages, integration of RAD tools with compilers and languages, development of domain specific languages, development of abstract software, extensive features for code generation and meta-programming. Its implementation is able to implement software for .NET and Java bytecode using one high level language that is extensible by programming compile time functionality. There is a Java front-end that allows programming for this new framework using a well known language.
PerlShare is a DropBox drop-in to create your own private file sharing "cloud". It consists of two parts; a client and a server. The server part lets you configure a Linux machine to accept PerlShare clients. PerlShare behaves a lot like DropBox. On collisions, for example, it creates conflicted copies. The workhorse for synchronization is Unison, a very reliable piece of software from Pascal Bach.
File-Find-Object-Rule is a port of File-Find-Rule to make it use File-Find-Object instead of File::Find. It provides a succinct, declarative syntax for creating directory tree traversal routines while enjoying the advantages of File-Find-Object, such as traversing the tree incrementally and iteratively, and the capability of instantiating several traversers in the same program.
