A-OK! The Wings of Mercury is a realistic simulation of the Mercury spacecraft. It features 3D graphics, fully functional control panels, networked simulations, and a complete manual. It uses the actual checklists used by the astronauts. Orbital and Sub-Orbital missions can be simulated. Orbital missions and a Mission Control Center simulator are available to registered users.
J-Ben is an aid for studying Japanese. Its primary focus is for looking up and studying kanji (the Chinese characters used in Japanese writing). It also features kanji and vocabulary study lists, cross-referencing of kanji searches with the vocabulary list, a kanji flash card drilling mode, and a Japanese-English dictionary.
Roman Numeral Conversion API performs Roman numeral conversions and formats date data using Roman numerals and Latin. The romandate command is similar to the standard Unix date command. The romannum command provides command line conversion to and from Roman numerals. Libroman contains the functions roman_ctime(), roman_asctime(), and roman_strftime(). These functions provide the same functionality as ctime(), asctime(), and strftime() using Roman numerals to generate the strings.
The Mnemosyne software resembles a traditional flash card program to help you memorize question/answer pairs, but with an important twist: it uses a sophisticated algorithm to schedule the best time for a card to come up for review. Difficult cards that you tend to forget quickly will be scheduled more often, while Mnemosyne won't waste your time on things you remember well.
Micropolis is a city simulation game engine based on the original classic SimCity source code. Micropolis is based on the Tcl/Tk version of SimCity. It consists of the micropolis module, which is the engine recast as a C++ class; the cellengine module, which is a cellular automata machine engine; and the tileengine module, which is a Cairo based tile renderer. It is intended to be used with the OLPC's Sugar user interface environment, but layered so the core code is useful in other contexts.
Henry is an educational astrometry utility for performing calculations based on a Hertzsprung-Russel (H-R) diagram, such as spectroscopic parallax for working out the distance to a given star. Unlike many other solutions that use in-built images for their H-R diagrams, Henry plots data directly from the European Space Agency's HIPPARCOS catalog, allowing increased accuracy while also giving students greater room to experiment by exploring the catalogue themselves.
Python Mesh Viewer is a very basic tool to display and play with 3D models. You can either construct them in the code (by defining points, triangles, and quads) or load them from a file. Currently, the only file format supported is the ".mesh" format from the closed source software medit. The rendering is done with absolutely no hardware acceleration (no OpenGL).
