StableNet Express can comprehensively monitor an entire network, including the system and application environments. It features an easy-to-follow graphical display which provides a live view of what is going on in a networked IT system. The automatic discovery functions allow the entire monitoring system to be up-and-running within only a few minutes. Nothing needs to be installed on the production systems. It can be extended by users with their own measurement and alarm modules by adding scripts into a specific folder.
Libsmbios is a cross-platform library intended to be used to obtain common information available in a BIOS. Major features include the ability to update the BIOS on Dell systems (in conjunction with the Dell RBU Linux kernel driver), programmatic access to information in SMBIOS tables, and the ability to obtain Dell system-specific information such as the Dell System ID number, service tag, and asset tag. Future plans include APIs for $PIR and mptable mapping. There is a C API for some of the more commonly used functions, and example binaries to show off most of the facilities.
Lintouch is an implementation of HMI (Human Machine Interface) or MMI (Man Machine Interface) software framework. It features a server/client architecture, componentized design, and is platform and architecture independent. The Lintouch architecture allows you to develop your own connectivity plugins and visualization objects.
jNetStream is a sniffer and a protocol analyzer. A set of applications and complete Java library are provided with a comprehensive API. Hundreds of protocols have been defined, and the list can be expanded with a simple NPL language. It is appropriate for custom protocol development, grad students, and network teachers/professors.
PyWBEM is a Python library for making CIM operations over HTTP using the WBEM protocol. It is based on the idea that a good WBEM client should be easy to use and not necessarily require a large amount of programming knowlege. It is suitable for a large range of tasks from simply poking around to writing Web and GUI applications.
gtkShots is a GUI tool to automatically save screenshots at regular or scheduled points in time. with the Options may be chosen for each screenshot to be saved, such as the size, the parent folder, and the time interval between them. Some possible applications include the creation of presentations or monitoring desktop activity. gtkShots includes pyshots, the command-line program that actually implements its functionality.
NEPM monitors and reports uptime, critical events and their predecessors, access rates, bytes-served rates, and error rates for network node equipment. Hardware and software elements within the nodes are tracked and reported separately to make possible rapid fault isolation. It is a very general, highly configurable, two-part software system that captures and analyzes logged performance data from IP-networked equipment and reports it via email and Web pages. Current conditions and history from systems based on Windows NT/2000, Unix, and Unix-style operating systems can be tracked and reported. Most major server, switch and router systems can be monitored, without running agents on the target systems. NEPM itself is system-independent and can be hosted on either a Unix or Win NT system or a combination of these with equal ease.
fupids2 is a so-called human oriented IDS based on the FUPIDS project. fupids2 calculates an attacker level for every user on all Unix/Linux/BSD systems in the network. It looks at the behavior of the user (the programs the user uses, the daytime the user is active, the building and room the user uses, the part of the room in which the user sits, and so on) and reports if the user engages in behavior that is unusual for that person. This method can often detect accounts overtaken by attackers.
