pHash is an implementation of various perceptual hashing algorithms. A perceptual hash is a fingerprint of a multimedia file derived from various features from its content. Unlike cryptographic hash functions that rely on the avalanche effect of small changes in input leading to drastic changes in the output, perceptual hashes are "close" to one another if the features are similar. Potential applications include copyright protection, similarity searches for media files, or even digital forensics.
Slidematch is a media rating, contextual retrieval, peer recommendation, and library management system for music, video, movie, and book impressions. It adds value to your existing media player by enabling you to easily record detailed impressions, retrieve content appropriate to what you are currently doing, and interact with friends.
Streamsniff is a small command line tool that sniffs network traffic for stream URLs. It detects RTSP, MMS, and icy protocols, and performs a backtrace on HTTP traffic to detect "playlist" URLs and Flash video files. This is useful when you want to reveal the stream you started with your browser and don't feel like digging through loads of HTML and Javascript.
ucanvcam is a cross-platform framework for building virtual cameras. Virtual cameras offer the same interface as regular cameras to client applications (such as Skype), but provide user-generated or user-modified imagery rather than imagery directly from a camera. While ucanvcam comes with a set of special effects, the main intent is to make building virtual cameras easier for people without OS-specific knowledge, so they can focus purely on image processing.
xcalib loads the 'vcgt'-tag of ICC/ICM color profiles to the X- server, in order to calibrate the user's display by tweaking the LUTs in the video card. Users need a profile which contains the 'vcgt' tag to achieve monitor calibration with the video card's LUTs. These profiles can be created with most commercial profile creation programs. For testing purposes, some profiles are added to the tarball.
yet another yuv viewer (yay) displays 4:2:0, 4:2:2, 4:0:0 YUV, and Y-only pictures and sequences (planar Y:U:V format). It tries to find geometry information such as _widthxheight somewhere in the path and filename (e.g. mobile_352x288.yuv or path/to/yuv/mobile_640x480x400frames/file.yuv).
