Electron Gamma Shower (EGS) is a general purpose package for the Monte Carlo simulation of the coupled transport of electrons and photons in an arbitrary geometry for particles with energies from a few keV up to several TeV. Simulations can be performed in arbitrarily complex physical geometries, and a wide range of physical processes are modeled.
ROOT is an OO framework for large-scale scientific data analysis and data mining. It contains an efficient hierarchical OO database, a C++ interpreter, advanced statistical analysis, visualization, introspection, documentation, networking, and GUI classes. The command/scripting language is C++, and large scripts can be compiled and dynamically linked in. Using the PROOF (Parallel ROOT Facility) extension, large databases can be analyzed in parallel. The system runs on all known POSIX platforms, Windows, and MacOS X.
h5tools provides third-party tools for working with data where the underlying storage object is HDF5. The toolkit currently has two utilities in it: The HDF5 NeXus writer API is a set of functions which allows writing data in the NeXus data format, using only HDF5 function calls. H5merge will merge any two HDF5 or NetCDF4 files.
DOLPHIN SLED is a hierarchical schematic entry solution with graphic linking of components, hierarchical configuration of the netlist, and multi-language netlisting (SPICE, Verilog, VHDL-AMS, etc.). Interoperability with other schematic entry tools, particularly the ECS family (including Synario, Cohesion, and Laker-AMS) is ensured for capitalizing on legacy designs and cooperative work. Interoperability is ensured through standard design exchange formats (EDIF2) and scriptability for customization.
Voreen is a rapid application development framework for the interactive visualization and analysis of multi-modal volumetric data sets. It provides GPU-based volume rendering and data analysis techniques and offers high flexibility when developing new analysis workflows in collaboration with domain experts. The Voreen framework consists of a multi-platform C++ library, which can be easily integrated into existing applications, and a Qt-based stand-alone application.
Survex is a software suite for processing, viewing, and printing cave survey data. It is multi-platform and multi-lingual, can deal with extremely large and complex datasets, and can read survey data from many sources. A sophisticated GUI visualization tool (Aven) is included as well as the data processing tool (Cavern) and a data entry tool (Survex-edit). There are also printing and data conversion tools. Printing for HPGL, Postscript, PCL (Laser/inkjet), and Dot-matrix printers is supported. Output converters to DXF and extended elevation form are included. Survey data can be read in native Survex form, or Compass or CMAP files. Conversion from other formats such as SMAPS is easily accommodated.
