Slash'EM (Super Lotsa Added Stuff Hack -- Extended Magic) is a variant of the hugely popular roguelike game NetHack. It adds more monsters, more objects, more dungeon levels, more roles, and more races, shopkeeper services, and techniques for you to use, and invisible objects and gypsies for those who feel lucky. It also comes with a GTK windowing interface and higher resolution tile sets as options.
Kalyp is a fantasy-based roguelike game written in Java. Its design is based on traditions set by popular roguelike games, especially Nethack. It is single player and runs in a text terminal. The project focuses mostly on the Artificial Intelligence engine for the non-player characters. Most of the game design will be done in scripting, as the core engine written in Java will handle user interface, rulesets, basic actions, and try to hold it all together.
KQ is a old school console-style RPG. Take the part of one of eight mighty heroes as you search for the Staff of Xenarum. Visit over twenty different locations, fight a multitude of evil monsters, wield deadly weapons, and cast powerful spells. On your quest, you will find out how the Oracle knows everything, who killed the former master of the Embers guild, why no one trusts the old man in the manor, and what exactly is terrorizing the poor Denorians. It was abandoned by its original author and rescued by the Allegro community. KQ runs on DOS, Windows, Linux, and OS X.
ZapM is a sci-fi rogue-like game that borrows monsters and ideas from all over and crams them into a ridiculous and perilous space maze where even a toaster can kill you. But the intrepid hero, a badass space marine (or perhaps you're playing as a skilled software engineer, or a plucky quarterback, or a mutant psion?), has no choice but to enter this dangerous hulk and search for the legendary "Bizarro Orgasmatron", the only artifact that can save the universe from certain destruction!
