iDMC is user-friendly software for the simulation and analysis of non-linear models. It was designed both as a teaching and research tool, and is very easy to use (a user’s guide is available). Numerical calculations are performed on models included in the package, or any model formulated by the user and easily encoded (a few lines with no compilation necessary). The Java graphical user interface provides fast generation of graphical data of good quality, which can be saved as .png files. Hard computational tasks are delegated to a separate, small C library.
Vocatra is a console-based vocabulary trainer. It takes one or more vocabulary files, queries you for each word, and lets you try to give the correct answer. You can enable different learning modes. If you prefer to learn sequentially it has an order mode. Otherwise, there is also a random mode available.
J-Ben is an aid for studying Japanese. Its primary focus is for looking up and studying kanji (the Chinese characters used in Japanese writing). It also features kanji and vocabulary study lists, cross-referencing of kanji searches with the vocabulary list, a kanji flash card drilling mode, and a Japanese-English dictionary.
Roman Numeral Conversion API performs Roman numeral conversions and formats date data using Roman numerals and Latin. The romandate command is similar to the standard Unix date command. The romannum command provides command line conversion to and from Roman numerals. Libroman contains the functions roman_ctime(), roman_asctime(), and roman_strftime(). These functions provide the same functionality as ctime(), asctime(), and strftime() using Roman numerals to generate the strings.
Raggier is a plugin-based raytracer that supports XML format scenefiles, POV-Ray, and Polyray scenefiles. Other facilities planned include Lindermayer Systems (L-Systems), AVI/OGM (Ogg Vorbis)/Matroska animations, and a Perl/PHP Web interface. Raggier uses the Libtrace library, modified with various fixes to get it to compile using gcc 3.x and to improve the results. The modified version is called LibTraceMod and is available in the CVS.
EngLab is a cross-compile mathematical platform with a C like syntax intended to be used both by engineers and users with little programming knowledge. It supports programming through small script files but also enables users to easily compile their own functions as shared objects and use them through the program's main interface.
Artha is a handy thesaurus based on WordNet with distinct features like global hot key look up, passive desktop notification, regular expression based search, etc. Artha may be used as a free open-source replacement/clone to the proprietary WordWeb Pro thesaurus (which is also based on WordNet) on Unix-like and Windows operating systems.
