vTemplate is a PHP class that is intended to make splitting PHP from HTML a simple and natural task. It has easily understandable syntax that is much easier to use than other template classes. It compiles a template into native PHP code using one PCRE call, thus the parsing is extremely fast. It also has powerful caching and debugging classes to extend the functionality.
Embperl gives you the power to embed Perl code in your HTML or XML/XSLT documents and the ability to build your Web site out of small reusable objects in an OO-style. It can also build taglibs and use caching. You can also take advantage of hundreds of Perl modules which have already been written for such tasks as database access to a growing number of database systems. Embperl has several features especially useful for creating HTML, including dynamic tables, formfield-processing, escaping/unescaping, session handling, and more. Embperl is a server-side tool, which means that it's browser-independent. It can run in various ways: under mod_perl, as a CGI script, or offline.
CGI::Application is a Perl framework intended to make it easier to create sophisticated, reusable Web-based applications. This module implements a methodology which can make Web software easier to design, easier to document, easier to write, and easier to evolve. CGI::Application builds on standard, non-proprietary technologies and techniques, such as the Common Gateway Interface and Lincoln D. Stein's excellent CGI.pm module. CGI::Application judiciously avoids employing technologies and techniques which would bind a developer to any one set of tools, operating system, or Web server.
Report Magic is an add-on for Analog, a Web site logfile analysis program. Generated reports include a description with tabulated, graphed, and summarized results. All colors, fonts, and background images are completely customizable to help make resulting reports fit the theme of your Web site. Report Magic has translations for several languages. It runs on any platform that will run Perl and pre-compiled versions are available for Win32 and Mac.
SteelBlue is an Open Source Web application server similar to Cold Fusion. It extends HTML with tags to execute SQL commands, perform type checking on user input, loop over sections of code, and manipulate data. In addition, it has a Perl-like scripting language that can be embedded directly into the HTML for complex data manipulation. SteelBlue runs as a CGI script on Linux, UNIX variants (via gcc 2.8), and Win32. It includes native support for most popular relational databases and the embedded scripting language is extensible though a C++ API. Included in the distribution are a book about programming SteelBlue, many examples, and a full bulletin board application.
