MUSCLE (Multi User Server Client Linking Environment) is an N-way messaging server and networking API. It includes client-side networking APIs for various languages, including C, C++, C#, Delphi, Java, and Python. MUSCLE lets programs communicate over a network via streams of serialized Message objects. The included server program ("muscled") lets its clients message each other and store information in its server-side hierarchical database. The database supports flexible queries via hierarchical wildcarding, and "live" updates via a subscription mechanism.
VRaptor 2 is a Web-based MVC and IOC framework based on many frameworks and ideas (Seam, Stripes, Webwork, Hibernate Annotations, etc). It makes full use of Java 5 Annotations. It favors convention over configuration, because configuration in XML/properties/annotations is always easy to make mistakes and repetitive (aka copy and paste in many places). This framework uses a more imperative approach, instead of having many XML files to configure lifecycle and other properties. Most of the settings go inside plain Java objects (POJO), so the team knows exactly what is going on and where.
Ice is a modern alternative to object middleware such as CORBA or COM/DCOM/COM+. It is easy to learn, yet provides a powerful network infrastructure for demanding technical applications. It features an object-oriented specification language, easy to use C++ and Java mappings, a highly efficient protocol (including protocol compression), asynchronous method invocation and dispatch, dynamic transport plug-ins, TCP/IP and UDP/IP support, SSL-based security, a firewall solution, and much more.
Cut The Crap Software radically simplifies the task of java-based system development. Packages focussed on such problems as persistence, object model representation and XML processing contribute to the encompassing goal of viable model-based system generation from simple descriptions.
The IberAgents platform is a framework for component development in Java. It has facilities for Web service communication (SOAP), persistence to database or files, and interaction via the Web; thus providing an end-to-end solution for data management. It uses its own SOAP library, so it does not depend on Axis or Apache Soap.
Kasai is a Java-based authentication and authorization framework. It allows you to integrate into your application a granular and manageable permission scheme. It's targeted at the specific security requirements that arise in real-life applications such as Intranets, ERPs, CRMs, document managers, accounting systems, etc.
FrAid (Fr[actal] Aid) is a programming language that is appropriate for mathematical computations, visualization, batch processing, and more. It features both a standalone application that provides a programming environment for the language and a system for integrating the language with Java. The Java interface allows mathematical equations and formulas to be used with Java code, making it easier to process numerical computations, symbolic computations, imaging, CAD, and more.
Morena is a Java framework that allows a Java program to acquire an image from a scanner or camera. To communicate with the hardware, it uses standard interfaces: Twain for MS Windows and Mac OS X and Sane for a number of Unix platforms (AIX, BeOS, Darwin, FreeBSD, HP-UX, Linux, NetBSD, OpenBSD, OS2, Solaris, Unixware).
