Xplanet was inspired by Xearth, which renders an image of the earth into the X root window. All of the major planets and most satellites can be drawn, similar to JPL's Solar System Simulator. A number of different map projections are also supported, including azimuthal, Mercator, Mollweide, orthographic, and rectangular.
Copper is a Web-based project management software tool designed to help creative teams manage clients, projects, tasks, files, budgets, and events. It has an HTML/AJAX front end. It is available with full source for a licence fee or as a SAAS hosted service (compatible with iPhone, but available via PC/Mac/Linux and a Web browser).
Powua is a parallel super-computer consisting of many processors that work simultaneously. The Powua client lets users access this high computing power from wherever they are, directly on their computer, through a simple Internet connection. If your preferred software is supported, you can start using it immediately in Powua and speed up all those processes that would otherwise occupy your processor for a long time. Powua subdivides your operation and distributes it to many processors simultaneously.
Simulum deals with different simulations of star movements and their visualizations. At first it looks at the projection and accumulation of star brightness. In actually doing this it distributes stars among a three dimensional figure. To get a nice effect it combines the photographic image production with a moving view point. So the outcome is the visual impression of flying through a star field. Secondly it studies different algorithms of particle movements and clustering. The primary approach uses a combination of Newton's gravitational law, energy, and impulse conservation. At all these stages an highly dynamic view of the processes is able to be produced.
Championship Generator produces a list of all the meetings which must occur between the participants of a championship. It can be used to produce the challenges between teams if competitions are not foreseen to directed elimination. It supports championships where it is necessary to consider the matches at home and away. It can also try to avoid fights between the big teams in the first and last days. It also supports the case in which two teams have a mutual stadium, and therefore cannot simultaneously play at home or away.
Red-Piranha is a search system that can actually learn what you are looking for. It can be used as a Web page, command line, or XML-WebService, so it will work with most languages, including Java, Perl, C#/.NET, and PHP. It includes learning abilities for the Desktop/Internet search functionality. All feedback from the user is stored in (editable) XML and RDF, and is used by the system to improve the quality of searches.
GoWeather displays an attractive representation the current weather conditions for a particular location, along with upcoming weather forecasts. The source of the data are small, text-based reports in a standard format (METAR and Zone Forecast (ZFP)) made available from an unchanging, reliable source (the National Weather Service (NWS)). GoWeather is FLTK-based, has a small form-factor, and the data files are very small and can be accessed offline. This means GoWeather is suitable for Linux handhelds (like the Agenda VR3 PDA).
