TML turns text into HTML using a wiki-like markup. Unlike txt2tags, TML does not support multiple output formats (although there is some support for word documents through a separate project). HTML tags may be freely mixed into the source where desired. The output is easy to read and supports table-free CSS layouts. .include files can be used to insert blocks of code such as Google ads that appear on multiple pages. PHPTAL is a fast, safe, XML-based template engine for XHTML and HTML5. It implements Zope's Template Attribute Language, which has clean, concise syntax that is compatible with XML tools (no custom ugly tags), and template source files can even be previewed in Web browsers or opened in WYSIWYG editors. Templates are compiled to PHP and cached, giving great performance and taking advantage of PHP accelerators. PHPTAL by default ensures well-formed output and escapes XML-unsafe characters everywhere, which means that your pages can be completely safe against HTML-injection (XSS) without great effort. It features fine-grained caching of output, pre- and post- filters, internationalization via gettext or custom backend, creation of custom template attributes and expressions, and templates loaded from non-standard sources (e.g. databases). It supports UTF-8 well, is easy to integrate and redistribute with PHP frameworks and applications, and has an object-oriented design and a comprehensive unit test suite.

ServingXML is a markup language for expressing XML pipelines and an extensible Java framework for defining the elements of the language. It defines a vocabulary for expressing flat-XML, XML-flat, flat-flat, and XML-XML transformations in pipelines. The accompanying console app supports reading content as XML files, flat files, SQL queries, or SAX events, and writing it as XML, HTML, PDF, or mail attachments. This software is especially suited for converting flat file or database records to XML, with its support for namespaces, variant record types, multi-valued fields, segments and repeating groups, hierarchical grouping of records, and row-by-row validation with XML Schema. There is also an API for embedding the software in a Java application.
