OSS provides sound card drivers for most popular sound cards under Linux, *BSD, Solaris, UnixWare, OpenServer, AIX, HPUX, LynxOS, VxWorks, and Tru64. These drivers support digital audio, MIDI, synthesizers, and mixers found on sound cards. These sound drivers comply with the Open Sound System API specification. OSS provides a user-friendly GUI which makes the installation of sound drivers and configuration of sound cards very simple. It supports over 200 brand name sound cards, and provides automatic sound card detection, Plug-n-Play support, support for PCI audio soundcards, and support for full duplex audio.
RoadMap is a navigation program for Unix and PocketPC that displays street maps. Most of the maps are provided by the US Census Bureau, and thus only the US has a decent coverage at this time. A specific area can be displayed by entering a street address (street number, street name, city, and state). It interfaces with a GPS receiver through gpsd or the serial line to track the car position. It has been designed to be usable on a Linux desktop or laptop computer, or on a PDA (Linux or PocketPC).
VariCAD is a 3D/2D CAD system for mechanical engineering. In addition to standard tools for 3D modeling and 2D drafting, the CAD system provides tools for sheet metal unbending and crash tests, libraries of standard mechanical parts (ANSI, DIN) and symbols, mechanical part calculations, and tools for working with bills of materials (BOMs) and title blocks. VariCAD supports STEP, STL, IGES, DWG, and DXF file formats.
WinDriver automates and simplifies the development of user-mode Linux device drivers for PCI, CardBus, ISA, PMC, PCI-X, PCI-EXPRESS, and CompactPCI as well as USB 1.1/2.0. No internal OS knowledge or kernel level programming is required. It supports kernel 2.0.31 and above, including embedded Linux, x86 and PowerPC processors, and any 32-bit development environment supporting C or Delphi. Applications are source code compatible across Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP/XP Embedded/Server 2003/CE, Linux, Solaris, and VxWorks.
RAR is a general purpose archiving and compression program competing with/replacing programs such as PKZip, ARJ and others. RAR offers significantly improved compression ratios, easier use and a better price as well as supporting long file names, disk spanning and self-extracting file creation. RAR introduces an original compression algorithm. It allows higher compression ratios than other PC archiving tools, especially on executable files, Object libraries, large text files, etc.
BACnet is an implementation of the BACnet (Building Automation and Control Networks) protocol specifically tailored for embedded systems. BACnet itself is a standard routable protocol designed to handle communications in automation in buildings, such as air conditioning systems and other HVAC equipment.
The Kadmos OCR/ICR (handwriting) recognition engine has support for multiple languages. It covers all Latin languages and others, including Cyrillic. Application interfaces are available for C, C++, VB, .NET, Delphi, and Java upon request. It has isolated character recognition (REC), isolated line recognition (REL), and paragraph / multi-line recognition (REP) modules.
SuperWaba is a VM for PDAs. Because of the way it was written, you can use Java to develop programs for it. It supports exceptions, threads, many user interface controls, double and long 64-bit types, grayscale, color, 3D controls, and JNI and Java libraries, among other features. The project has been superseded and replaced with TotalCross.
