Pike is an interpreted, object-oriented, dynamic programming language with a syntax similar to C. It includes a powerful modules system that, for instance, has image manipulation, database connectivity and advanced cryptography. It is simple to learn, does not require long compilation passes and has powerful built-in data types allowing simple and fast data manipulation.
Anthill is a tool that ensures a controlled build process and promotes the sharing of knowledge within an organization. Anthill performs a checkout from the source repository of the latest version of a project before every build and tags the repository with a unique build number after every build. It supports many reposistory adapters including: CVS (Concurrent Versions System), Visual Source Safe, Perforce, PVCS, StarTeam, MKSIntegrity, and FileSystem. Anthill also automatically updates a project intranet site with artifacts from the latest build. Anthill is an extension to the Apache-Ant project and is compatible with version 1.3, 1.4, and 1.5 of Ant.
mozCC is an extension for browsers which are based on Mozilla Gecko (Mozilla Suite, Mozilla Firefox/Firebird, and Netscape) which provides an easy way to view Creative Commons license metadata embedded in Web pages. mozCC displays license information about the current page in the status bar using the Creative Commons' license attribute icons. It also provides a button on the toolbar which displays the embedded license's RDF in more detail.
The Fedora software is based on an architecture known as FEDORA (Flexible Extensible Digital Object and Repository Architecture). The software takes advantage of distributed (or local) Web services, and makes representations of objects (called disseminations) available via HTTP. It is particularly good at handling complex digital objects where source datastreams and behaviors are distributed. There are two binary distributions (server and client), and a source distribution (including all libraries and source code needed to build any distribution).
The Extended Universal Resource Locator library provides a complete virtualization of file-like objects. How data is stored is completely transparent to the client, since the library is meant to replace java.io.File. It provides implementations for handling local files, Jar/Zip archives, and XML documents. (Implementations for CVS and FTP are available seperately.) Other storage providers can be written and plugged in. It also provides a merged filesystem implementation that allows multiple hierarchies to appear as one and to override each other in a controlled way. Other features include notification of changes to files, and support for attaching (dynamically updatable) actions to file objects.
