G4L is a hard disk and partition imaging and cloning tool. The created images are optionally compressed, and they can be stored on a local hard drive or transferred to an anonymous FTP server. A drive can be cloned using the "Click'n'Clone" function. G4L supports file splitting if the local filesystem does not support writing files larger than 2GB. The included kernel supports ATA, serial-ATA, and SCSI drives. Common network cards are supported. It is packaged as a bootable CD image with an ncurses GUI for easy use.
Paragon Drive Backup is a universal backup. It creates images of any partitions of the whole hard disk and places them on CD, DVD, or another partition or disk. It includes a bootable CD and an "undelete partition" function. It can be used to repartition, clone, or upgrade hard disk. It also includes Image Explorer, a tool to explore your backup images and restore only part of one of them. All versions of NTFS are supported, and fast processing is provided for FAT 16/32, NTFS, EXT2/3fs, and ReiserFs.
SILVERCODERS DocToText is a powerful utility which can convert documents in many formats to plain text. It includes a console application and C/C++ library, which allows embedding text extraction mechanisms into other applications. It supports MS Office binary formats (MS Word (DOC), MS Excel (XLS, XLSB), MS PowerPoint (PPT), and Rich Text Format (RTF)), OpenDocument formats (text documents (ODT), spreadsheets (ODS), presentations (ODP) and graphics (ODG)), Office Open XML formats (MS Word (DOCX), MS Excel (XLSX), and MS PowerPoint (PPTX)), iWork formats (PAGES, NUMBERS, KEYNOTE), OpenDocument Flat XML formats (FODP, FODS, FODT), Portable Document Format (PDF), Email files (EML), and HyperText Markup Language (HTML). DocToText can extract text not only from the document body but also from annotations (comments) embedded in odt, doc, docx, or rtf files and read metadata like author, last modification date, or number of pages. It can be used as a fast console viewer, and is able to convert corrupted OpenDocument and Office Open XML documents. It can be used to recover text even if other recovery methods failed.
Archive2iso takes a directory tree and randomizes the files in the tree to stripe the files across several ISO files that can be archived or burned off to a CD. The ISO files are generated by calling the CDiso.pm module. It reads an array generated by an INCLUDE LIST so the ISO file can be made with mkisofs. The intended use is to stripe files across multiple CD/DVD randomly so if one disc is damaged all the files that were in the same directory will not be lost since files are spread across multiple disks. The actual files themselves are not split; all files remain in their original state.
