GSL shell offers an interactive user interface that gives access to the GSL collection of mathematical functions. It is based on the powerful and elegant scripting language Lua. GSL shell is not just a wrapper over the C API of GSL, but offers a much more simple and expressive way to use GSL. The objective is to give the user the power to easily access GSL functions without having to write a complete C application. It also has a powerful module to produce plots or almost any kind of graphics based on data or functions.
Raggier is a plugin-based raytracer that supports XML format scenefiles, POV-Ray, and Polyray scenefiles. Other facilities planned include Lindermayer Systems (L-Systems), AVI/OGM (Ogg Vorbis)/Matroska animations, and a Perl/PHP Web interface. Raggier uses the Libtrace library, modified with various fixes to get it to compile using gcc 3.x and to improve the results. The modified version is called LibTraceMod and is available in the CVS.
Python Mesh Viewer is a very basic tool to display and play with 3D models. You can either construct them in the code (by defining points, triangles, and quads) or load them from a file. Currently, the only file format supported is the ".mesh" format from the closed source software medit. The rendering is done with absolutely no hardware acceleration (no OpenGL).
The Second Life Viewer is the client for logging into the Second Life 3-D virtual world, where residents explore, purchase virtual land, open businesses, build real estate, and create scripted objects such as cars, robots, or magic wands. Second Life residents retain full intellectual property rights for the digital content they create and upload, including avatar characters, clothing, scripts, textures, objects, and designs.
prerex is an interactive (command-line) editor and a LaTeX macro support package that can be used to create very attractive and readable prerequisite charts. A graphical front-end for the editor also provides a prerex-enabled PDF viewer. A prerequisite chart is a network of course boxes linked by prerequisite and co-requisite arrows.
The aim of auch (audio-checker) is to visualize music. It takes audio from the microphone and uses it to simulate an elastic and vibrating surface (chladni-tranform) or the reflection of such a surface (makyoh-transform). Many more transforms can be activated by unlocking the interactive shell.
LeadingReporter is an application for creating photo-based business documents, personalized illustrated client proposals, or even research and scientific reports. A rich choice of page templates helps to automatically layout text and images in your document. Documents can be shared as Web, print, or presentation files.
BALLView is an extensible viewer for bio-molecular structures. It provides all standard models and offers rich functionality for molecular modeling and simulation, including molecular mechanics methods (AMBER, CHARMM, and MMFF94 force fields), continuum electrostatics methods employing a Finite-Difference Poisson Boltzmann solver, secondary structure calculation, molecular editing and docking. Since BALLView is based on BALL (the Biochemical ALgorithms Library), it is easily extensible on the level of C++ code. In addition, it provides a Python interface with Integrated Development Environment features to allow interactive rapid prototyping.
SAGA GIS (System for Automated Geo-scientific Analysis) is a geographical information system (GIS). The SAGA GIS API supports grid data like digital terrain models and satellite images, vector data, and tables. This API makes it easy to implement new algorithms and exempts the developer from hassle programming overhead like user-interface design or file I/O. SAGA GIS comes with a large collection of modules, in areas of terrain-analysis, geo-statistics, image processing, and process simulation.
