get_iplayer allows a user to stream or make recordings of any BBC iPlayer TV (H.264/Quicktime), BBC iPlayer Radio (MP3/AAC/RealAudio), or BBC Podcasts (MP3/AAC). It downloads iPlayer subtitles, metadata, and thumbnails. It has full PVR functionality for automatic searching, queuing, and stream recording. Its plug-in architecture allows third-party channels to be added. Live and embedded iPlayer TV and Radio recording and streaming is also supported. The optional Web PVR Manager allows full PVR searching, recording, and playback support of available and recorded material.
lmadl automates the downloading of shows and the subsequent processing of the audio files from the live music archive at www.archive.org/audio. lmadl takes as its argument the URL of the Live Music Archive index page for a show, finds the available files, and asks the user which format to download or to quit. When lossless formats (shn or FLAC) are downloaded, it will run shn2make on the resulting files to facilitate creation of audio CDs, archive CDRs, or encoding to lossy formats. It supports interruption and restarting of downloads.
C-Cramp (the C-Cramp College Radio Audio Management Program) is a Web-based frontend to MySQL for managing the types of things that small radio stations might need: audio files, data, and "metadata"; DJ and staff information, schedules, live music and program logs, and all sorts of other data. Currently, a cross-platform PHP application is the focus of the project, but more features and types of programs are planned that will hopefully enable easier playback, storage, loading, and entering for all types of applicable data.
The TunePimp library is an audio file tagging library that uses MusicBrainz for track identification/lookup. It will attempt to automatically identify the files, and will present the user with possible matches for files that are not automatically identified. Once the files are identified, it writes new metadata tags to the music files and writes the files to a user-defined directory hierarchy. It supports WAV, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, and FLAC files.
icecream is a non-interactive stream download utility. It connects to icecast and shoutcast servers and redirects all fetched content to an stdin-capable player or to media files on your disk. With an option turned on, it can save the stream into different files, each representing the played track. It is also possible to tee the input to both disk and stdout.
SlimServer provides an elegant and easy to use interface for playback of music stored in many audio formats, and supports Internet radio stations, playlist management, Web access, and an infrared remote control. The music remains on the host computer and streams over the network to any streaming audio client.
SimPlEdi is a Web-based editor for MP3 playlists (M3U) which are used in popular music players like Winamp or XMMS. The file locations are stored relative to the playlist location, which makes it possible to use the generated lists on changing environments such as mounted network drives or CDROMs.
