OpenClass is a simple solution for class control. It provides multicast screen projection (sending the teacher's screen to all of the students), student attention requests (blocking student activities and asking them to look at teacher), viewing of all student screens at once, direct messaging to students, file and URL sharing, computer shutdown, access control for specific classes, and support for multi-seat configurations and multiple clients per machine. For students it provides automatic teacher discovery via broadcast, "raise hand" functionality, and automatic handling of network saturation and disconnection events.
creepy is an application that allows you to gather geolocation related information about users from social networking platforms and image hosting services. The information is presented in a map inside the application where all the retrieved data is shown, accompanied with relevant information (i.e. what was posted from that specific location) to provide context to the presentation.
Googsystray is a system tray app for Google Voice, GMail, Google Calendar, Google Reader, and Google Docs. It lets you keep track of the information provided by those services without having to keep a bunch of Web pages open or constantly checking them. It notifies you of new events, such as messages or alerts, and provides basic services quickly.
Edile is intended to be a basic but useful text editor for system administration and scripting purposes. It's something between a script and an application meant for quickly opening and viewing or editing files from the command line or piped from another process. Edile requires Python and PyGTK, and if you have GTKSourceView, it will use that. It has been tested on XP and Ubuntu.
Omnitux aims to provide various educational activities based on multimedia elements (images, sounds, and text). Possible activity types are associations, puzzles, counting activities, etc. There is support for multiple languages and multiple screen resolutions (by using SVG vector graphic files and high quality bitmap files). Omnitux activities are described in XML files, so it is possible to create new activities without modifying the program.
