yplot is an interface to the PLPlot plotting library written as an extension of yorick. This combination allows one to quickly and easily create high-quality scientific plots from data, even in large structured files. yplot implements 2D line and scatter plots, contour plots, 3D surface, mesh and scatter and line plots. The user is given full control over every aspect of the plot, including symbol types, line types, label placement, fonts, etc. The results can therefore be made suitable for high-quality scientific presentation. A 60 page Postscript tutorial is included with examples and a reference section.
SIDB (Scientific Image Database) is a Web-driven database for (scientific) images. Entry of image meta-data is facilitated through the use of user-definable templates. Users have complete control over who else may see the submitted image and data. SIDB offers various views on the actual image data. Thumbnail plus meta-data can be printed, and multiple thumbnails can be combined in galleries. A freeware version of the Huygens software (http://www.svi.nl) can be used to generate projections from 3-D images (most confocal microscope image formats are supported), as well as MPEG movies, showing the individual layers from the 3-D images.
Deciduous Evolution uses a 3D recursive algorithm for drawing binary trees using intersecting cylinders in 3D space. All adjustable aspects of this algorithm are parameterized, and these parameters are evolved using a genetic algorithm. Statistics describing various metrics of the tree are instantiated, and fitness is calculated based on a number of weighted functions of these statistics. The goal of this project is to manipulate these weights to most accurately reflect the laws of nature, and observe the resulting trees. Using only a simple set of parameters, a recursive binary tree's growth can strikingly resemble that found in nature.
PHPLOT is a PHP graphics class for creating charts and plots. It works with PHP5 (but older versions can use PHP4). PHPlot uses the PHP GD extension to produce PNG, GIF, or JPEG images. TrueType fonts (TTF) are optional, or built-in GD fonts can be used. The available plot types are: area, bars, line/points, lines, pie, points, squared, stacked-bars, and thin bar-line. Labels, tick marks, plot legend, X/Y axes, and more are all configurable. Images can be imported as a background, multiple graphs can be drawn on one image, and images can be saved to disk or returned to a browser.
vtkFlRenderWindowInteractor is a class which enables you to create applications with full VTK and FLTK integration and interaction. This means that VTK renders to your FLTK UI, and your FLTK UI interacts with the VTK pipelines. Standard VTK interactor styles and picking work by default. This code has been tested successfully on Linux, SGI Irix, Sun Solaris, and Windows (NT, 2000, and XP).
WilmaScope is a Java3D application that creates real-time 3D animations of dynamic graph (network) structures. It comes with a number of layout algorithm plugins, and supports the easy creation of plugins for new layout algorithms. 3D geometries for graph element glyphs and algorithms for graph generation and modification are loaded dynamically as plugins, providing an extremely flexible platform for all manner of graph visualisation applications. The system has been applied with considerable success to a number of graph visualisation problems.
