phpDVD is a simple PHP script to keep track of your DVD collection. The information is stored in a MySQL database and an interface is provided to add, edit and delete entries. Customizable fields allow you to display the details of importance to you; the default fields are: Title, Studio, Year, Aspect Ratio and Audio Format. You can optionally link each title to its corresponding page at the Internet Movie Database, or to a URL of your choice. The look and feel is fully customizable through header/footer/style sheet templates.
Wuff's MovieDB (WMDB) is a MySQL database with a nice PHP frontend to catalogue DivXs, VCDs, SVCDs, DVDs, movies, or anything else you might want to catalogue. It connects to Amazon's IMDB (Internet Movie Database) to get most information about the movie and stores it in the database. If covers are available they will be shown with the complete movie information.

VideoDB is a database to manage your personal video collection. It's designed for videofiles but you can also put your DVDs, games, and VHS tapes in it. It features fetching movie data/covers from the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), Amazon, Allocine, DVDInside, DVDPlace, Google, OFDB, and TV-Tome, local caching of cover images, an option to mark movies as seen, a search by genre or title/subtitle/plot/cast data, a filter for TV episodes, a random movie function and a simple borrow manager. Optionally, it features user management and authentication for sharing the database with others and adding custom fields. The design is completely customizable by templates. There is PDF and XML export, RSS support, and online help.
furious_tv is a PVR backend that uses an SQLite database to hold XMLTV listings data. Using that data, it can automatically execute commands to record TV shows off of a capture device (multiple capture devices are supported). If Shuriken is installed, furious_tv can also automatically power the system on/off for recordings to save power.

You can also write your own plugin for retrieving data from your favorite movie site. It also generally tries to provide the user with the most comfortable interface available for the task, while trying to follow the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines.
ccHost is a Web-based infrastructure that may be used to host and allow for commenting, remixing, and distribution globally. The more installations of ccHost and its variations, the more content there will be available for enjoyment and artistic re-use in a sane and legal setting. ccHost is what is used for the infamous Creative Commons CC Mixter project which supports legal media sharing and remixing.
