Dar is a shell command that makes backup of a directory tree and files. Its features include splitting archives over several files, DVD, CD, ZIP, or floppies, compression, full or differential backups, strong encryption, proper saving and restoration of hard links, extended attributes, file forks, Door inodes, and sparse files, remote backup using pipes and external commands (such as ssh), and rearrangement of the "slices" of an existing archive. Xidel is a command line tool to download Web pages and extract data from them. It can download files over HTTP/S connections, follow redirections, links, or extracted values, and process local files. The data can be extracted using XPath 2.0, XQuery 1.0, and JSONiq expressions, CSS 3 selectors, and custom, pattern-matching templates that are like an annotated version of the processed page. The extracted values can then be exported as plain text/XML/HTML/JSON, or assigned to variables to be used in other extract expressions or be exported to the shell. There is also an online CGI service for testing.

ipt_pkd is an iptables extension implementing port knock detection with SPA (single packet authorization). This project provides 3 parts: the kernel module ipt_pkd, the iptables user space module libipt_pkd.so, and a user space client knock program. For the knock packet, it uses a UDP packet sent to a random port that contains a SHA-256 of a timestamp, small header, random bytes, and a shared key. ipt_pkd checks the time window of the packet and does the SHA-256 to verify the packet. The shared key is never sent.
