The GUIShell project is a collection of utilities facilitating the use of the GTK+ toolkit in shell scripts through the gtkshell utility. The ACE configuration environment provides sample scripts utilizing gtkshell for desktop utilities. rootcat provides the ability to display messages to the root window using Xft, allowing one to write status display scripts.
FrAid (Fr[actal] Aid) is a programming language that is appropriate for mathematical computations, visualization, batch processing, and more. It features both a standalone application that provides a programming environment for the language and a system for integrating the language with Java. The Java interface allows mathematical equations and formulas to be used with Java code, making it easier to process numerical computations, symbolic computations, imaging, CAD, and more.
gtkdialog is a GUI creation utility that can be used with an arbitrary interpreter. It enables the programmer to describe a graphical user interface in a simple XML language, and create callbacks with any interpreter that supports either files, standard I/O, or environment variables. It can be called as an external program from the interpreter, but can be used as a stand-alone framework for the application as well. Stand-alone, bash, and awk examples are provided.
CocoaDialog is an application that allows the use of common GUI controls such as file selectors, text input, progress bars, yes/no confirmations, and more from within a command-line application. It requires no knowledge of Cocoa, and is ideal for adding front-ends to shell, Perl, Ruby, or Python scripts.
Ccide reads C, C++, BASIC, or bash source code containing embedded decision tables from stdin, expands the tables, copies the remaining statements, and forms a compilable C or C++ source module, executable bash script, or interpretable BASIC program. Erratic side effects are avoided by evaluating all condition expressions at exactly the same time, and by performing all evaluations and actions in the original sequence.
flmkisofs is a very simple program for creating ISO images with the mkisofs program. It can create DVD video ISO images, Apple ISO filesystems, HFS/ISO filesystems, and El Torito or Generic bootable ISO filesystems. It fully supports versions 1 through 3 of the ISO filesystem standard, with RockRidge and Joliet extensions, and has partial UDF support.
relman is a tool that takes your source code, runs the build, and distributes the packages. A configuration file allows you to define application-wide defaults in addition to information particular to individual projects such as the source directory, package name, and the like. Once set up, you just have to call relman with the name given to the project plus the version to release. It calls pkgmake to build .tar.gz, .deb, and .rpm files, and then distributes them using (s)FTP, RSync, and/or SCP all in one run.
