mail2news-easy is a utility that converts mail to news and news to mail. This program is unique in that it needs less configuration and modifying files than other products; it needs only one file, containing the signature of the mailing-list sender and the news name to which it relates. It installs easily, suppressing 100 of 100 modifications in the first install, and 75 of 100 when upgrading.
Net_NNTP is a PHP/PEAR library for communication with NNTP servers. Net_NNTP handles connection and protocol-level commands (RFC977), including many non-standard commands (RFC2980), via a user-friendly API which hides the actual NNTP commands/syntax. Some knowledge about NNTP and general knowledge about email and MIME is required, since parsing of content and headers is left up to the user. Net_NNTP allows advanced users direct usage of NNTP commands via the separate protocol implementation. Net_NNTP includes a fully-functional NNTP to HTML gateway demo application.
FIDOGATE is a Fido-Internet gateway and a Fido tosser. The gateway converts between the worlds of Fido NetMail/EchoMail (or FTNs, Fido Technology Networks in general) and the UNIX mail/news system. FIDOGATE will convert Fido mail packets to RFC822/1036-style messages and vice versa.
ngetdaemon allows quick and efficient perusing and downloading from Usenet remotely. Updating and sorting of all headers is done with one click. The strongest feature is that posts are grouped together in 'file groups', meaning a post consisting of 100 files is compacted into one line and determined to be complete, incomplete, par fills, etc. There are no pretty buttons, animations, etc. Everything is designed to create as little strain on bandwidth as possible.
Binbot is an easy-to-use newsreader for downloading binaries from Usenet. It was designed to browse large binary newsgroups efficiently, and to download huge files quickly. It supports all common article encodings, multiple servers, and NZB files. It also includes built-in access to Web-based Usenet search engines, and automatic unrar, unzip, and unsplit capabilities.
stdnoj is a cross-platform C++ class library that includes classes for using portable strings, databases, SMTP, POP, NNTP, arrays, files, directories, logging, email, and sockets. While templates are used, no reliance upon STL or other (traditionally error-prone) technologies has been used, which increases portability between compilers.
The Usenet Binary Harvester (ubh) is a Perl console application which automatically discovers, downloads, and decodes single-part and multi-part Usenet binaries. It automatically assembles multi-part binaries, provides searching via Perl regular expression syntax, and provides a pre-selection capability whereby the user can interactively choose which binaries to download. Ubh uses a standard .newsrc file to control which groups to process, and uses the .newsrc to keep track of articles already processed. It also handles uuencoded binaries, MIME attachments, and yEnc encoded binaries.
NewsCache is a free cache server for USENET News. NewsCache acts to news reading clients like a news server, except that it stores only those articles that have been requested by at least one client. NewsCache targets problems of the current News System like network bandwidth consumption or the IO load caused by news clients.
