The SeaMonkey project is a community effort to develop an all-in-one Internet application suite. It contains an Internet browser, email and newsgroup client with an included Web feed reader, HTML editor, IRC chat, and Web development tools, and is sure to appeal to advanced users, Web developers, and corporate users. It uses much of the Mozilla source code powering such successful siblings as Firefox, Thunderbird, Camino, Sunbird, and Miro.
QBinNews is a Usenet client for downloading binary files. It features multithreaded download, multipart post joining, automatic parity, automatic rar extraction, automatic file joining, colored header filtering, database update filtering, download history, timed automatic header updates, Web integration with newzleech.com and binsearch.info, NZB support, and a built-in text and image viewer.
Urd is a Web-based Usenet binary download manager. It stores the newsgroup information in a MySQL database and aggregates the articles into sets of a single download (e.g. one album or movie). The Web interface can be used to search with regular expressions. It uses its own downloading daemon that has support for scheduling downloads and updating databases. URD can also download directly from NZB files and even create NZB files. Further features include custom scripts, multiple languages, a template based Web interface, support for multiple servers, automatic par2 and unrar support, and an intuitive user interface.
Leafnode is a news server, suitable for small, limited-bandwidth sites with only a few users (and useful for offline news reading). Leafnode keeps track of which groups are being read and downloads only articles in those groups. Leafnode has been designed to require no maintenance and to be easy to set up.
The WendzelNNTPd is an IPv6-ready Usenet server that aims to be as easy to use as possible. It is portable, supports AUTHINFO authentication, contains ACLs as well as role based ACLs (RBAC), supports invisible newsgroups, and features automatic prevention of double postings. WendzelNNTPd supports MySQL as well as SQlite3 backends.

Newsstar fetches news and posts it to a local news server: INN, s-news, and sn are supported. What makes newsstar special is that it can make multiple simultaneous connections, not only to one server, but to several, supporting up to 10 "threads". Before fetching each article, it checks that it hasn't already been downloaded by another thread or in a previous session. It can also "pipeline" article requests to make better use of available bandwidth. SSL is supported.
