News::Archive is a Usenet news archiving package for downloading and later accessing news articles in bulk. It can load articles laid out in INN format, retrieve them from a running news server, or just take articles one-by-one. It is compatible with News::Web and Net::NNTP::Server, so the articles can be shared either via the Web or via NNTP.
NNTPspider searches for freely accessible NNTP servers (free news servers) by using information from the message headers. This search starts with at least one default newsserver that you can access, usually the one at your ISP. It reads the Path: lines in the headers in order to find more news servers. All the servers that are found are checked for public access and queried for a list of supplied newsgroups. This results in a quite complete list of all news servers currently availiable.
Bulletin Board News Server is a (relatively) quick NNTP interface for vBulletin. It reads directly from the MySQL DB and is therefore independent of the Web frontend. It doesn't alter read counters, but "forbidden names", name size limitations, user authentication, and anonymous posting (through a "usenet" user) are implemented. Registered users (either in the vboard or through a proprietary pw hash in the config file) can see the email addresses of others, as far as the owners permit it.
Korallenriff is a program that collects input from different network sources and stores their data into one database. For example, it can receive POP3 mail or can fetch NNTP groups and store the received messages in a database. One can then, for example, use the database data within a Web site to display the latest postings of a newsgroup or to create an online mailing list archive. Another possible use would be to build a blogging-software where one can post via email.
Knewspost is a KDE frontend to newspost, a Usenet binary autoposter for Unix. It provides a graphical environment for autoposting binaries to newsgroups. It features tooltips for ease of use, post list creation, saving default values to a file, posting status window, and post log saving.
Newsbinripper is a set of shell scripts that works as a frontend to nget and other tools (unrar, id3info, file, mogrify, and par2repair) to automate the process of downloading daily updates from usenet, and generate a customizable Web site with galleries or an easy-to-navigate folder structure for standard file browsing.
