Coin is an implementation of Open Inventor. Open Inventor is the de facto standard API for retained-mode 3D graphics programming. Open Inventor has a highly extensible design, and has been designed to allow for rapid development of highly interactive 3D graphics applications in the fields of CAD, engineering, scientific computing, simulation, VRML, and visualization.
ViewKlass is a C++ framework for developing applications that use the LessTif or OSF/Motif(tm) user interface toolkits. In particular it provides classes that support the creation of reusable components. It also provides classes that encapsulate some of the more difficult and tedious aspects of Motif development. These include classes to handle the creation of windows, dialogs, and menus. ViewKlass is an open source implementation of SGI's ViewKit(tm), and should eventually become source code compatible with a large subset of of that API.
JWAA is a software framework for building dynamic Web applications as networks of first-class Java objects. XML is used for representing information normally coded as HTML. The XML files are automatically reloaded when they change. It has a "persistent forms" feature in which form data automatically persists in the database such that fields behave like pieces of paper that automatically preserve what's written on them. This default behavior is easily overridden. Invalid links are reported at XML load time via the browser, and are also recorded in log files.
Mica (formerly known as Poe) is a system for building network-accessible multiuser portable applications. It is a programming language and execution environment designed to be accessible by more than one programmer at a time. It implements a pure Object-Oriented language, with an instance-based inheritance model. Persistence and garbage collection are both automatic and transparent to the programmer. Mica is designed with programmable P2P conferencing programs, multiplayer online games, and other collaborative applications in mind.
sTeam provides a technical platform which allows groups of students, lecturers, and any other groups to construct and arrange their individual and cooperative learning and working space. It consists of an object-oriented server connected to a database, and Web, Java, and other (FTP, SMTP, IRC, etc.) clients. The server is event-driven and manages all user objects as well as the communication between the connected clients. Features that were different from most other cooperation tools is the self-organisation and self-administration by the members within the virtual environment.
The C++ Portable Types Library (PTypes) is a simple alternative to the STL that includes multithreading and networking. It defines dynamic strings, character sets, variants, lists and other basic data types along with threads, synchronization primitives and IP sockets. It is portable across modern Unix and Windows systems and includes a sample HTTP daemon showing the full power of the library.
Steph is a portable C library for text mode windows, menus, dialogs, etc. The interface with the underlying system is provided by a separate library, so to port to a new system, only the interface library needs to be rewritten. Interface libraries are provided for Unix/Curses and IBM PC compatibles running DOS.
