BRL-CAD is a powerful constructive solid geometry solid modeling system that includes an interactive geometry editor, ray-tracing support for rendering and geometric analysis, path-tracing for realistic image synthesis, network distributed framebuffer support, and image and signal-processing tools.
The OpenCA Project is a collaborative effort to develop a robust, full-featured and Open Source out-of-the-box Certification Authority implementing the most used protocols with full-strength cryptography world-wide. OpenCA is based on many Open-Source Projects. Among the supported software is OpenLDAP, OpenSSL, Apache Project, Apache mod_ssl.
scdbackup is a simplified CD/DVD backup program for Linux. It can back up large amounts of data on one or more media, with no special tools needed for reading the backup. It supports ISO9660 filesystems and afio archives. Its special features are automatic division of data into multiple volumes, verification of write success, incremental backups, a search and restore helper for large ISO9660 backups. CDs get written via cdrecord, wodim, cdrskin, or xorriso. DVDs and BDs get written via growisofs, cdrskin, or xorriso.
Zsh is a UNIX command interpreter (shell) which of the standard shells most resembles the Korn shell (ksh). It includes enhancements of many types, notably in the command-line editor, options for customising its behaviour, filename globbing, features to make C-shell (csh) users feel more at home and extra features drawn from tcsh.
Elektra is a universal hierarchical configuration store, similar to GConf and the Windows Registry. It allows programs to read and save their configurations with a consistent API, and allows them to be aware of other applications' configurations, leveraging easy application integration. While architecturally similar to other OS registries, Elektra does not have most of the problems found in those implementations. Elektra includes a library, an API, and commandline and GUI tools for administration tasks.
Unix Mobile Agents is a generic, flexible, easy to use mobile agent architecture implemented in a set of bash scripts. This design is made to be trivial to deploy and setup. Agents can be configured to traverse the network in sorted order, in user defined order, or as a random walk. They can also run in a repeated loop, or in a single pass through the network. Connections are made via public-key SSH authentication, and the screen utility is used to allow agents to run without requiring terminals.
Slony-I is a "master to multiple slaves" replication system supporting cascading and slave promotion. The big picture for the development of Slony-I is as a master-slave system that includes all features and capabilities needed to replicate large databases to a reasonably limited number of slave systems. Reasonable, in this context, is probably no more than a few dozen servers. If the number of servers grows beyond that, the cost of communications becomes prohibitively high.
Approver is a set of scripts for automatically approving posts to Majordomo-moderated mailing lists based on the sender's email address. Approver also converts HTML email posts to plain text by first filtering them through DEMIME, and it bounces all posts submitted to mailing lists made by non-list members, preventing list moderators from being bombarded by bogus submissions created by email worms and viruses originating from list member's infected computers.
