abcde is a frontend to cdparanoia, wget, cd-discid, id3, and your favorite Ogg Vorbis (the default), MP3, FLAC, Ogg Speex, or MPP (Musepack) encoder. It grabs an entire CD and converts each track to the desired format, then comments or ID3-tags each file, all with one command. It supports multiple output in a single CD read, the creation of a single track from a CD, resume operation, CD concatenation, volume normalization, gapless encoding (with LAME), parallelization, SMP, proxies, customizable filename organization and munging, playlist generation, distributed encoding via distmp3, and more.
burnCDDA is a console frontend to cdrdao, cdrecord, MPlayer, mpg321, oggdec, mppdec, flac, normalize, and mp3_check. It can be used to create audio CDs from an M3U playlist (the playlist format of XMMS and amaroK) or from files inside a directory. It supports MP3, OGG Vorbis, Musepack, FLAC, WMA, M4A, and WAV files, and it might be the easiest way to copy an audio CD.
mkat is a set of command line tools for burning and cataloging data CD/DVD/BD and audio CDs. The catalog can later be searched for certain files or an audio CD. Tags can be used to categorize CD/DVD/BDs, e.g. comedy, drama, kids, sports. mkat is configured to use wodim/growisofs and genisoimage to do the real work, but it should be possible to configure it to use arbitrary programs.
cdwrite is a console shell for reading, writing, and copying audio CDs as well as for creating and writing ISO images on CD media and data or ISO images on DVD media. It can also encode WAV files or audio CDs to FLAC, MP3, or Ogg files, optionally using CDDB data and setting audio tags. Users that prefer command line interfaces can use cdwr.*, cdencode, and settags scripts instead of cdwrite.
A.M.I.C.U.S. (Automatic Multimedia Installation Configuration Utility System) helps users quickly and easily install and configure MythTV on generic PC hardware. It uses the Debian Netinst CD to install GNU/Linux and just the required packages to allow a functional MythTV on low end hardware.
mp3cleanup is used to tidy up various aspects of MP3 files, including filenames, ID3 tags, path, m3u playlists, and bitrate. This is particularly useful for hardware MP3 players that sometimes have arbitrary limitations on the files they work (well) with. It can operate on single files or on all the files contained in a directory.
make_cd_label is a script that helps create stickers for CDs. It is intended to be integrated with your backup scripts, but can also make stickers for audio CDs using CDDB and disc-cover. The output is an XML file that can be read into glabels and then edited or printed. It uses Memorex or Avery CD label stickers.
ova is a convenient console frontend for ripping CDs and encoding MP3 and wave files to the Ogg Vorbis format. It is also able to query the CDDB given a CD (or saved CD discid) or several MP3/Ogg Vorbis/wave files (very useful for downloaded albums). Ogg Vorbis files can be tagged and renamed according to elaborate patterns.
