Knights aims to be the ultimate chess resource on your computer. Written for the K Desktop Environment, it's designed to be both friendly to new chess players and functional for Grand Masters. It supports play against many opponents, including yourself, computer opponents, live Internet players, and against friends via email. It also sports highly customizable graphics and sound.
Chess Training Tools is a collection of chess training tools. It includes a chess visualization trainer that teaches chess visualization by drilling you on the color of a particular square, and also on your ability to tell if two squares are the same color, if two (or three) squares are on the same diagonal, if two squares are a knight move apart, or if two squares are two knight moves apart. It includes a weak chess program (called Vince) that lets you lag the display by several ply, hide all pieces or all pawns, and block out quadrants of the board. Furthermore, it includes an opening memorization trainer. The Palm & Pocket PC versions are missing the mate, opening trainer, and Vince.
TEG is clone of 'Plan Tactico y Estrategico de la Guerra', which is a clone of Risk, a networked multiplayer turn-based strategy game. TEG is not fully compliant with Risk; some rules are different. It has a server, a robot, a GNOME client, support for GGZ Gaming Zone, and IPv6.
Marauroa is a multiplayer online game framework server. It uses a multithreaded server architecture with a TCP oriented network protocol, a MySQL based persistence engine, and a flexible game system. The game system is totally expandable and modifiable by game developers and is able to run Python scripts defining the game's rules. Marauroa is based on a design philosophy called Action/Perception. Marauroa is totally game agnostic and makes very little assumptions about what are you trying to do, allowing a great freedom to create any game type.
webDiplomacy (previously phpDiplomacy) is a Web implementation of a popular turn based strategy game in which you battle to control Europe. It is not a game of luck: to win you must be diplomatic and strategic, forming and breaking allegiances and bargains with your friends and enemies. It features an interface intuitive and simple enough that seasoned Diplomacy pros and complete newcomers can play alongside each other.
The aim of this project is to create a free (open source, OS independent) remake of the classic SSI game Imperialism. While the spirit and many concepts of the original should be preserved, it should not become a pure copy but advance the concept in a sense that modern elements of strategic games are included, e.g. of the Civilization series. The game is written in Java using Swing for the user interface. The philosophy is to keep it as simple as possible, use standard/well tested libraries wherever possible and to demand clean, understandable code.
