John the Ripper is a fast password cracker, currently available for many flavors of Unix, Windows, DOS, BeOS, and OpenVMS. Its primary purpose is to detect weak Unix passwords. It supports several crypt(3) password hash types commonly found on Unix systems, as well as Windows LM hashes. On top of this, lots of other hashes and ciphers are added in the community-enhanced version (-jumbo), and some are added in John the Ripper Pro.
htmLawed is a PHP script that makes input text more secure, HTML standards-compliant, and suitable in general from the viewpoint of a Web-page administrator, for use in the body of HTML 4 or XHTML 1 or 1.1 documents. It is a customizable HTML/XHTML filter, processor, purifier, and sanitizer. It can ensure that HTML tags are balanced and properly nested tags, neutralize code that may be used for cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks, and limit the allowed HTML elements, tags, attributes, or URL protocols.
Perso can handle different types of identity card numbers (e.g. German/Austrian ID-card and passport). It can check the numbers for correctness using the "7-3-1"-checksum algorithm. Also it can extract information from the numbers (e.g. birthday) or generate example numbers using custom values.
Scriptid is a program and a library that can be used to determine whether a given text file contains code of a specified programming language. The current release can tell whether a file contains vbscript or not. It should be possible to extend this to any number of other languages. MonoDecrypt uses pattern matching and its knowledge about character frequencies in order to decrypt messages encoded with a monoalphabetic substitution cipher. MonoDecrypt can decrypt texts of any language, as long as it has sufficient information about the language. Depending on the information you give it, the tool decrypts about 50%-100% on its own. Then you can decrypt the remaining data by filling the gaps or correcting bad guesses. MonoDecrypt can also encrypt texts using monoalphabetic substitution.
alph implements and analyzes historical and traditional ciphers and codes, such as polyalphabetic, substitutional, and mixed employing human-reconstructable algorithms. It provides a pipe filter interface in order to encrypt and decrypt block text to achieve transparency. The program is meant to be used in conjunction with external programs that transfer data, resulting in transparent encryption or decryption of information. The program can thus be used as a mail filter, IRC filter, IM filter, and so on.
The Karmasphere DP language is a high-performance non-blocking parallel language for performing data processing. It is designed to give the user a high degree of control over the usage of system resources, such as how many CPU cores or how much disk I/O time to use, without requiring the software developer to explicitly consider these issues in code. The implementation is a stand-alone library that can be used in any Java 1.5 environment. It can take full advantage of multiprocessor (SMP or NUMA) systems, and may be scaled sideways: since the interpreter and environment are stateless, an entire cluster of machines may run the interpreter in parallel without any need for synchronization.
