MP3-CD-Sleeve is composed of two Perl scripts that produce HTML or LaTeX-style pages that can be printed as the index sleeve of an (MP3) CD. It briefly lists the directory hierarchy, by enumerating directories for ease of use in MP3 CD players. The LaTeX script tries to fit everything in a 5" x 5" (12.5cm x 12.5 cm) frame with wrap-around at the edges (no fold-out feature is included yet, it produces just the front cover).
TeX++ is an implementation of (most parts of) TeX in C++, based on CommonTeX. It fits better into a Unix system by being able to act inside a pipe, has command line settings for page geometry and other typesetting parameters, and several other new features. It is intended as the typesetting engine for a TeX-based Web browser, but can be used standalone.
Kile is a user-friendly TeX/LaTeX editor for the KDE desktop environment. It lets you compile, convert, and view your document with one click and features auto-completion of (La)TeX commands, templates and wizards for starting a new document, easy insertion of many standard tags and symbols and the option to add user defined tags, inverse and forward search, collection of documents that belong together into a project, easy insertion of citations and references, a flexible build system, QuickPreview of selected parts of a document, easy access to various help sources, and advanced editing commands.
VTeX/Lnx is a TeX program that generates PDF or PostScript output immediately from the TeX source file. In contrast to pdfTeX, VTeX supports inclusion of PostScript images (EPS), as well as inline PostScript programming, even when generating PDF output. VTeX includes a complete LaTeX system, Bibtex, and Makeindex. Packages such as PStricks, PSfrag, and draftcopy can be used with VTeX.
The Freehand Formula Entry System is a research prototype for recognizing online handwritten mathematical notation, developed jointly by researchers in New Zealand, the United States and Canada. A user draws expressions with a mouse or data tablet, and LaTeX, a bitmap, and an operator tree are produced as output. Symbol recognition and expression interpretation are performed as the user draws.
