Sixpack is a graphical and command-line bibliography database manager written in Perl/Tk. It interacts with the supplied package 'bp', which can import and export from a number of formats including bibtex, endnote, medline, procite, and many others. It can download references directly off the Web, and open articles using external viewers. It can also interface with Emacs/XEmacs and Lyx.
TkDVI is a DVI previewer built with the Tcl/Tk toolkit. It can use multiple windows to display multiple pages at the same time (which can come from multiple DVI files sharing a common font repository). Each window can show either a single page, two facing pages (as in a book) or sixteen reduced pages in the space of one, to check page breaks and positioning of floating items. TkDVI supports many features from xdvi, such as a magnification glass, but also adds interesting stuff like a gv-like page selector and a `rubber line' for measuring distances. TkDVI is based on a reusable Tk `image type' for DVI files which can easily be incorporated in other programs, and it is straightforward to customize and extend TkDVI itself.
rtf2latex2e is an utility to convert RTF files from popular word processors to the LaTeX2e format for those who value quality typesetting. rtf2latex2e uses the RTF reader package by Paul DuBois to parse the RTF code and generates an appropriate LaTeX file. The main features of rtf2latex2e are: detects text style: bold, italic, color, big, small,... reads embedded figures: PICT, WMF, PNG, JPEG,... reads tables: simple to semi- complex equations: reads out Equation Editor equations (courtesy Steve Swanson, http://www.mackichan.com) symbols: converts most greek and math symbols reads footnotes (not in tables yet), and converts hypertext links using the hyperref package.
glatex is a small program designed to help you to edit your LaTeX document files (sources, styles, bibliography, figures, postscript images, etc.). It maintains a list of all your editable files in order to allow you to edit them quickly. But you can also launch the compilator, viewer, and print commands, and it allows you to have document templates for creating new projects. It is not intended to manage the files themselves. For example, if you move a file from one directory to another, you'll have to remove it from the list and re-add it from its new location.
MpFot allows you to create MetaPost files from images in JPEG or GIF format. It uses Java2 and can optionally process the images before rendering to MetaPost files. MpFot can currently modify brilliance, color balance, and saturation, and it can also perform posterization, inversion of colors, and manual cropping. All the changes can be compared with the original image through a courtain-like facility.
RefDB is a reference database and bibliography tool for SGML, XML, and LaTeX documents. Command-line tools allow interactive or scriptable access to the data which are stored in a SQL database. RefDB can also be accessed through a Web interface, a SRU interface, or via editor extensions (Emacs/vim). Libraries for Perl and PHP are available for programmers. RefDB provides sophisticated character encoding handling, using Unicode by default.
