LaTeX::Table is a Perl module that provides functionality for an intuitive generation of LaTeX tables. It ships with some predefined, good-looking table styles. This module supports multi-page tables via the xtab and longtable LaTeX packages. For publication quality tables, it utilizes the booktabs package. It also supports the tabularx and tabulary packages for nicer fixed-width tables. Furthermore, it supports the colortbl package for colored tables optimized for presentations. The ltpretty program makes it easy to use this module from within a text editor such as Vim or emacs.
fig2ps is a script for converting xfig files to PS or PDF, processing text using LaTeX. It is intended to help typeset good quality documents, where the font on the pictures is exactly the same as the font in the text. The advantage it has over some other xfig exporters such as eepic is that you compile the picture only once and not every time you compile your LaTeX file, giving a great gain in speed with complex pictures. It should work with LyX.
RefDB is a reference database and bibliography tool for SGML, XML, and LaTeX documents. Command-line tools allow interactive or scriptable access to the data which are stored in a SQL database. RefDB can also be accessed through a Web interface, a SRU interface, or via editor extensions (Emacs/vim). Libraries for Perl and PHP are available for programmers. RefDB provides sophisticated character encoding handling, using Unicode by default.
dvdmenuauthor makes it easy and efficient to author a DVD with menus in an indirect (non-WYSIWYG) way. An XML project file drives the DVD authoring, from which both menus and a dvdauthor XML file are generated. dvdauthor and spumux are then used to author the DVD filesystem. Menu items (buttons and static items such as images and text) can be specified conscisely in the project XML file with LaTeX markup (to be processed by pdfLaTeX and rendered by xpdf).
IDX-DocBook2LaTeX is a stylesheet which translates DocBook documents into LaTeX. It is written in Perl, using the XML::XPathScript package from AxKit.
