Asymptote is a powerful descriptive 2D and 3D vector graphics language for technical drawing, inspired by MetaPost but with an improved C++-like syntax. It provides for figures the same high-quality level of typesetting that LaTeX does for scientific text. Asymptote is a programming language as opposed to just a graphics program. It can exploit the best features of script (command-driven) and graphical user interface (GUI) methods. High-level graphics commands are implemented in the language itself, allowing them to be easily tailored to specific applications.
The cb2Bib is a tool for rapidly extracting bibliographic references from email alerts, journal Web pages, and PDF files. It facilitates the capture of single references from unformatted and non standard sources. Output references are written in BibTeX. Article files can be easily linked and renamed by dragging them onto the cb2Bib window. Additionally, it permits editing and browsing BibTeX files, citing references, searching references and the full contents of the referenced documents, inserting bibliographic metadata to documents, and writing short notes that interrelate several references.
prerex is an interactive (command-line) editor and a LaTeX macro support package that can be used to create very attractive and readable prerequisite charts. A graphical front-end for the editor also provides a prerex-enabled PDF viewer. A prerequisite chart is a network of course boxes linked by prerequisite and co-requisite arrows.
Karaoke con SMIL is a project to synchronize audio, text, and images and export the final result to SMIL, which can be played in multimedia players such as Real Player, Helix Player, Ambulant Player, etc. on several devices (computers, mobile phones, PDAs, etc.). In short, this application synchronizes the multimedia elements in a way similar to karaoke.
ASCIIMathML is a script that converts calculator-style ASCII math notation (and many LaTeX formulas) to Presentation MathML while your Web page loads. It works with HTML and XHTML files in Mozilla/Firefox/Netscape 7+ browsers, as well as in Internet Explorer 6 with MathPlayer. For example, the solutions for the equation 'ax^2+bx+c=0' are expressed in the HTML file as '(-b +- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac))/(2a)', and display as nicely formatted MathML. The script can be easily used in wikiservers and blogs, as a rudimentary MathML editor (with instant preview), and to preview math formulas as they are typed into a Web page input area.
dvdmenuauthor makes it easy and efficient to author a DVD with menus in an indirect (non-WYSIWYG) way. An XML project file drives the DVD authoring, from which both menus and a dvdauthor XML file are generated. dvdauthor and spumux are then used to author the DVD filesystem. Menu items (buttons and static items such as images and text) can be specified conscisely in the project XML file with LaTeX markup (to be processed by pdfLaTeX and rendered by xpdf).
VRR is a vector image editor designed especially (but not only) for making illustrations of mathematical articles. Its main features are many types of geometric objects and keeping of their dependencies, cooperation with TeX, scripting in Scheme, real-size dimensions, support for a wide range of file formats (including PS, EPS, PDF, and SVG).
